As the sun set on yesterday’s National Prayer Day, I wanted to remember the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Remember to pray for those who have lost everything. For those displaced by flood waters and tornadoes. For those who will have to wait weeks, and even months, to know the extent of the damages to property and livelihoods. Pray for families as they begin to rebuild entire lifetimes. Pray for children as they deal with the trauma of what has happened.

Pray for us as a country, that we remember what it means to unite for the common good of our neighbor.

Remember to pray for the families of those whose lives were lost in the midst of the storm. Those whose names we know, and those whose families are still waiting and hoping for news of missing loved ones. These are the names of 24 of the 60 presumed dead, a number that will no doubt change as waters recede and clean-up begins. Lord, have mercy…
